Who are we?

Teachers for Africa Foundation is a non-profit organization that was founded in April 2008, after one of the current board members spent four weeks doing volunteer work in a township school near Cape Town, South-Africa.

During her volunteer project, she personally experienced the importance of good and inspired teaching and real attention for pupils. It is the best way of ensuring that pupils can take their future in their own hands. Back home in the Netherlands, this experience made her decide to set up the Teachers for Africa Foundation.

The foundation immediately started raising funds for projects aimed at improving the level of education in schools that indicate a need for support.

The Teachers for Africa Foundation believes that any highly motivated volunteer can make an important contribution to education. For this reason, the foundation not only targets qualified teachers, but also candidates aged 18 and up who like to teach and/or are willing to take up the challenge.
