Project Girls Home

The girls home offers accommodation for neglected girls who have been placed in custody. During this project, the volunteer helps with caring for the girls, helps them with their homework, and especially, the volunteer will organise many creative activities. Project duration four weeks or longer.

Project information

• The location of the girls home is in a southern suburb of Cape Town;
• There are around 30 girls aged 7 to 18 year;
• The shelter shelter offers (emergency) accommodation for neglected girls who have been placed in custody by official institutions;
• During this volunteer project, the volunteer:
  1. Helps with the daily care for the girls
  2. Assists the girls in making their homework, computer courses, etc.
  3. And especially organises many creative activities for the girls.
• The volunteer should have affinity with creative activities;
• The volunteer has a outgoing personality and is able to independently organise all sorts of activities for the girls;
• In this project, the volunteer provides a lot of personal input;
• The working hours in this project run from around 1PM to 5 PM;
• Project duration is 6 weeks or longer.

To warrant a good continuation of the volunteer work, the volunteer is asked to write a final report about his/her volunteer work, which will be used to inform a subsequent volunteer in advance.
