Sponsor projects

The Teachers for Africa Foundation supports small-scale educational development projects, initiated by the local population. These projects, which fall under the scope of our objective, are directly sponsored by us, without mediation of any other organization. Our foundation tries to offer structural help to schools with a high proportion of disadvantaged pupils in South-African townships, as a means of improving the education of underprivileged children and give these children a chance of a better future.

Examples of sponsor projects which we currently are raising funds for:

  • Educational facilities
    For instance the facilities in the Oranjekloof Moravian Primary School in Houtbay such as books, pencils, calculators, etc. We have recently realized our goal to provide for library facilities at the school;
  • Study grant funds
    To enable a number of promising pupils of disadvantaged primary schools such as the Oranjekloof Moravian School to continue their education at a better-off High School with the help of a study grand fund. Of course these pupils are thoroughly screened, and the relationship is affirmed by means of contract between the parents and the foundation;
  • Anger management courses
    For the pupils of the Oranjekloof Moravian Primary School. The pupils learn how to deal with the struggles they encounter in their everyday lives at the township;
  • Driving lessons
    For hard working learners at Houtbay High School. Equipt with a driving license they are more likely to find a job after their high school graduation.
