Why choose us?
There are many options to do volunteer work abroad, so what makes Teachers for Africa Foundation so special? Besides raising funds for various small-scale educational sponsor projects, we mainly focus on finding future volunteers who have affinity with teaching and/or see this as a personal challenge. The volunteer projects that we offer are meaningful projects, where the volunteer can really make a difference.
Further more:
- Teachers for Africa Foundation is not a travel organization or other commercial institute that offers volunteer work on the side. We are a charitable organization and a not-for-profit organization. Also, the Dutch tax authorities recognize us as a public service organization.
- The entire board of the foundation consists of volunteers, and thanks to our small scale and efficient working method, there is no rake-off.
- The foundation works on a cost-cover basis and any funds that become available after the costs have been covered, will be spent on various educational sponsor projects, such as setting up and administrating a study grant fund for promising pupils.
- We are committed to good provision of information prior to projects.
- We always try to take personal wishes and experience of the volunteer into account, and it is our mission to find a good match between volunteer and project, benefiting both parties.
- The volunteer projects are by definition small-scale, which makes a personal approach by the volunteer during the project both possible and advisable.
- The foundation always keeps good contact with the various projects in South-Africa, in addition to the contact with the reliable and enthusiastic local coordinator who arranges all accommodation, transport and support for the volunteers at the location. He/she offers personal assistance, and is therefore somebody you can always count on.
- After completion, we always evaluate the volunteer project with the volunteer.
